a few other cars, maybe a Porsche or a Ferrari, parked in the garage, perhaps only in an attempt to display his catchy license plate slogans.
Okay, so maybe that's not what I see. But is that not how much of America envisions Christ today? If not, is it fair to ask why Christians are living like that? I mean, isn't that how we are instructed to live? I think it logical, or at least reasonable, to questions why one would call himself, Christian, if, when honestly evaluating his life, much of it is not 'Christ-like.'
Perhaps, the only reasonable explanation, as unreasonable as it may sound, is that we too often idolize men that are of this world instead of Christ himself. Imagine entering a football game with the opponent's jersey on, but then, for some odd reason or another, claim to be a devout fan of the home team. I suppose I would have to question the sincerity of that man's words, as well as his allegiance. And while I have no doubt that Christ probably has a laser rocket arm, or given that he distributed so many loaves of bread in such a short period of time, at least has one available close by, I have to conclude that his allegiance was not to athletics.
So as to why Christians make a habit of entering sanctuaries, once considered holy places of worship, on Sunday bearing NFL jerseys from every team imaginable, to whom or where is their allegiance? Is it really to the God they are worshiping with their mouths or listening with their ears, or is it focused on the injury list, game time, and probability of beating the opponent? That's not to mention the cost of those tickets, which as I might imagine, require a little more than your average lunch meat, even if that means choosing to watch a football game over immunizing innocent children in third-world countries of malaria. But instead, to be more of a realist, I suppose the most likely alternative is simply to buy an IMAX screen for your living room television set.
The verse about giving to the poor and the least among us seems to be another one of those victims of the newly invented white-out, which I might add, was not originally intended to erase parts of Scripture which we do not see suitable to our lifestyles. In order to hold on to these original principles, the abolishment of Christianity must be brought to a screeching halt, if not taken in a full u-turn, or millions of the hungry and oppressed will likely see very little of what the world has to offer.
And so, in the midst of large discrepancies,
