What if Christianity was abolished today?
An argument against the abolishing of Christianity in America, which, in its current state of affairs, faces an overwhelming underlying pressure, perhaps from the Church itself, to stray from its purest origins, and commit an irreversible act of suicide.
I am quite knowledgeable how unpopular and dissatisfactory it is to address the general likeness and temperament of the Church, conscious of the overall loyalty and sensitivity accompanied with religion and faith in general, and that unless seen as inevitable, I would not come before you today to argue against the abolishing of Christianity in America.
And so I consider all that has surrounded the reputation of the Church, be it positive or negative, over the course of the centuries, and analyze the recent modifications, often journeying away from the pure origins of the apostles, succumbing to the insurmountable pressures bestowed upon Christianity through the pressures of the world, that to undo such revisions would surely result in immense religious upheaval.
Therefore, I now turn my attention to the matter at hand, the abolishing of Christianity in America, which as described centuries ago by Jonathan Swift, seems eerily close to the current state of the Church, perhaps because dissimilarities are not as prevalent as we might think to imagine.
First, in light of the recent phase, or upcoming phase as some might come to predict, of multi-million dollar church facilities and add-ons, is it not too unreasonable to question the true spiritual benefits from such contrivances? Or perhaps the better question, has financial stewardship been considered? I mean, we are well aware, that in issues of government and due process of law, such financial responsibility is a top priority, but then again, we could expect as much.
In the hands of the Church, one would assume, over the last centuries at least, that Church leaders understand the responsibility and severity of stewardship, a word depreciating in value in many churches across the nation, but may I note, not all. But to those who may need refreshing, how well do athletic facilities, or buildings of the like, spread the Kingdom of God, unless that is, Christ's effectiveness on Earth was solely due to His impressive six-pack and bulging muscles, but who am I to know?
What am I certain of, however, in my humble state of existence, is that your very teachings, the ones you adhere to on a daily basis, or should I say,
