The joys of gardening

I have yet to meet a person who could honestly tell me that they don't get any pleasure out of a garden. Even if you have no interest in gardening yourself you can still get great joy from just being in a garden. The scents and smells in a garden can be almost addictive, especially in the summer time.

If like me you enjoy gardening, and creating beautiful flower beds and boarders you will know what I mean by a garden being almost addictive. I like nothing more than spending a peaceful day gardening. Some times I will go out in the garden in the morning and not come in till the evening, except of course for lunch, but even then I have eaten out side. In the summer it's great to have lunch out doors in the fresh air. You can admire your garden and be at peace with the world, and at the same time create in your mind the next thing to do in your little piece of paradise.

The joy for me is waiting and watching as things start to grow. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing some thing that you have planted poke it's first little green shoots out of the ground. Then you nurture and care for your plants and flowers as they grow to maturity, and have the joy of seeing all the different flowers and colours that your garden creates.

Any time you feel a bit down take a walk around any flower garden and you will feel your self being lifted. You will find that the peace and quite in any garden will help lift your spirits. Who could resist a smile when everything is in bloom and the scent of the roses and other flowers are so heady in the air.

If you like vegetable gardening the joys are endless. Think of all the fresh vegetables you can grow for your family to eat. There is no better taste than vegetables straight from the garden. You can great satisfaction in knowing exactly where the food you are eating came from, and an even greater satisfaction in knowing that you grew it your self in your own garden.

Imagine your self and your family sitting on your patio enjoying a warm summer day, eating the fruits of your labour. Although to you it wasn't really hard labour because you had the joy of growing it. The lovely ripe strawberries, the lovely red apples all grown with love and Patience. There is nothing I think more tastier than a freshly grown green house tomato. You just can't compare the taste to shop bought ones. This also applies to cucumber fresh from your own green house.

The garden is a never ending source of joy to any one who takes the time to stop and look, and take in all the beauty that is there to see. The thing about a garden is the tranquility you can find there and the amount of life. Birds, butterflies, bees, and so much more.
