Where to buy old Disney movies

by Joseph Malek

Created on: May 23, 2009

For you information, an old movie these days is one that was made and shown or sold to the public, for a price, about a year ago. Then again, those old Disney movies that were created when Walt Disney was alive and kicking are few and hard to find. So too, some of Walt Disney's cartoon animation movies are highly desired by collectors and they are also quite valuable if they are in excellent condition.

You see, when Walt Disney was alive it was his policy not to sells his movies outright to the public. You had to go to a movie theater and pay the price of admission, in order to see one of his creations. Doing that insured that the next generation of people would have to pay a price to see one or more of his movies. Each of his movies made millions as time passed and he expected his creations to go right on earning millions more dollars for the benefit of his future generations.

As it happens and shortly after Walt Disney passed away, the Disney Production Company decided to create VHS tapes from all of Walt Disney's movies. Each of those movies was made in limited quantities and was never to be re-released thereafter, thus making each of the VHS tape movies as valuable as $450.00 each. Then again, those estimated values dropped after each of those movies were re-released on the VHS format or digital disks for the viewing pleasure of the public.

It seems that every rich person and corporation truly desires to make a quick buck these days. On the other hand, those old and highly desirable Walt Disney movies can be found for purchase on-line, yard sales and at local flea markets.

I have all of Walt Disney's old movies that were released for viewing from a VHS tape player. Then again, those short films about the adventures of Davy Crockett, Spin and Marty and other short films can only be seen on Walt Disney's television shows which he created back in the mid 1950s.

Well, guess what, you can copy the re-run many times broadcasts of his shows, including the half hour show called Zorro, if you have cable or satellite television service. Let us not forget about the Mickey Mouse club, hour long show, which kept my eyes glued to my parents black and white TV set when I was just a little guy. You better believe that the Mickey Mouse Club is a whole lot better than Sesame Street. As the old saying goes: Where there is a will, there is a way. You just never know when you might see and purchase an old Disney movie.
