There are many practical ways to save money in these tough, economic times. Be smart and attentive to your finances and you will be able to find many ways to save money.
Make saving a priority and watch your money grow!
The most important thing you can do for your self, your family and your future is to begin a savings program that fits your budget. This may sound easier said than done, but listen closely and remember it is never too late to begin a savings program. Whether you are in high school, fresh out of college or have been in the working world for a while, these ideas will work for you.
You work hard for every dollar you earn and many of us live paycheck to paycheck. Regardless of your financial situation, saving must be a priority to insure the stability of your financial future. There is a great deal of pride and satisfactions knowing you are building a savings fund you can depend on.
~To begin with, understand that you must Pay Yourself First. What this means is depending on what you are bringing home weekly or bi-weekly, the first and most important responsibility you have, is to your own self. Start by setting up a savings and checking account if you do not already have one. Arrange for your paycheck to be automatically deposited into your checking account. Next, on a regular basis, have an automatic transfer made into your savings account.
Once this arrangement has been made, you will not notice the transfer except when you are balancing your accounts. Always remember to deduct the specified amount from your checkbook so you balance your checking account each month.
I would recommend you start with a practical amount of money to be transferred into your savings account. This amount can be as little as $20.00 on up. You can arrange for the withdrawal to be made on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, depending on when you are paid. There may be an initial adjustment for you as you are getting used to a few dollars less per paycheck but the reward is well worth the effort.
This account should not be used for trips or other pleasures. This account is for you to build a secure savings for your future. You may already have a retirement fund set up and that is wonderful however, this account will grow, mature and give you a sense of pride and security. It is a great way to prepare for any financial crisis.
~Another practical way to save for those extras we all enjoy and appreciate is to discipline yourself to save every single $5.00 bill you receive.
