This is not an easy diet, a fad diet, a lose weight fast diet, or any other gimmicky idea to get you to change something you're eating and either not lose weight or lose weight and gain it back quickly. This is a way to CHANGE your eating and health habits to make your body get into shape. This one is about changing how you're eating, becoming less lazy, and getting healthy.
I followed this for 12 weeks and lost 30 pounds. I was more toned and leaner. I have always been an athlete, and I was seriously bummed when I looked up after a lousy relationship and found myself at 190 pounds. I think all we did for the last 6 months was eat out!
First you need to know some basics about how your body works. A calorie is defined as the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one kilogram water one degree Celsius. Food calories are the amount of energy that your body gets from that amount of food if it burns that food to make energy. That's why you count calories. If you take in more food (in calories) than your body uses in a day, you gain weight. If you take in fewer, you lose it. It really is that simple. Workout more and eat less and lose weight. Duh, right? We follow all sorts of silly diets that do all sorts of things to our systems. Here is the best way to lose weight, tone up and keep your body healthy.
First thing- eat. You have to eat. Lots. Five times a day. Take your body weight, multiply it times 8, and eat that many calories 5 times a day. My example: I was 190 pounds. That's 1520 calories let's round it to 1500. That's about 300 calories 5 times a day. As you lose weight, your number changes a bit. Working out as much as you are going to be, you'll burn that plus some and be hungry eating 5 times a day. You eat like this for 6 days a week and cheat on the 7th. You can eat anything you want for the cheat day.
Eating 3 times a day at 500 calories is not as effective. Your body has more of a chance to break down the foods if you're eating smaller meals and you'll burn more calories. Eating like this also has the benefit of allowing your body to digest more of the nutrients that your foods have to offer that it can't get if you eat too much at one time.
One purpose of the cheat day is that your body gets used to burning only 1500 calories (or whatever your number is). It needs resetting. The cheat day kicks your metabolism back into gear. The other purpose of the cheat day is that you don't cheat all week
