So I was doing my weekly catch-up entry reading on my friend's blog this week and one totally got me thinking about my life and the music in my life.
In his blog, my friend wrote: Robin Sharma says do your best and let life take care of the rest. He is a motivational speaker, author ("Monk who sold his Ferrari", "The saint, The surfer, The CEO", "The Greatness Guide" and others) and coach based out of Toronto. He works with major corporations in goal setting, team building, and motivation. He is a HUGE proponent of music in your daily life as well. Sharma says that 'Music is the soundtrack to your life .... how much music do you bring into your life to gain strength, to gain perspective, to relax and to energize?'
Hmm I'm thinking Mr. Sharma is on to something here and his philosophy begs the question, 'If you had to sit down and create your own personal soundtrack to your life what songs would you include?'
Now it's true I always have an inner soundtrack going on in my head at any given time [plus lets add the inner dialogue but that is another blog entirely] and it's usually the same grouping of songs. So without even knowing it, these songs have obviously struck a chord deep within the musical vibing of my brain because now that I really think about it, these songs are ultimately my go-to-tracks on the iPod. Ahhh the subconscious mind is a funny little thing we've got.
So that has me wondering about everyone else and their musical stylings. What songs would you choose to have follow you around? What memories do you associate with certain songs?
Come on, everyone remembers making mixed tapes back in the day. I spent hours on the floor of my bedroom surrounded by all my cassette tapes carefully selecting those perfect songs old skool style. Hitting the play and record buttons at just the right times, without cutting off the intro or the ending. Leaving enough space betwen the songs so there were no long pauses. And heaven forbid you had to tape a song from the radio...those damn DJs talking over the intro of the song or cutting it off before it stopped...I curse them to this day!
Kids today and their downloading technology. They have it SO easy...truly they have no idea.
So here are my songs for all to see and to judge [because we all love to judge musical tastes admit it!]...
