Poetry: Sad endings

If You Only Listen

It's possible to hear teardrops fall: the gentle splash of emotion on a smooth cold surface.

Long dark hair is tangled over my shoulders as I gaze at you, and I know that the hurt fills my eyes and my face the same way that your harsh words fill my mind.

Poetic phrases form in my thoughts but the words get lost on the way to my tongue and I turn away from you, head a little bent, and I know you can still see my pain, even if you can't see my face.

You know me that well.

So I walk away from you

from us

from everything

The same way I always did before.

Commitmentphobe - heartbreaker - bitch - people label me but I find it hard to care. Indifference has built up blockades around me since I ended it with you.

I know I should care what they say, but I just don't.

You're all I hear.

And now you're going, leaving me, leaving us, leaving everything...
