Body Issues. We've all had them, especially during the summer where outfits reveal more skin. It goes without saying that summer is probably the time of year that most of us dread since it's the time to show off some skin. God knows how many beach invitations I've turned down because I felt I wasn't hot enough to join the crowd. We've all been told at one point that we should love our body or to love ourselves but well, that is always easier said than done. So how do we overcome body image issues?
To have a positive self image or body image, we have to learn to accept the way we are. We have to learn to accept that we may not be a size 2 or 4 like other people and probably never will be unless we starve ourselves for at least a week. First and foremost, you have to learn to love yourself. We are our own harshest critics. Stop comparing yourself to others because we are all born different. We come in all shapes and sizes but that doesn't make you less worthy to be called "beautiful". Ignore the influences of the media. Models do not represent the image or size of the general public. They represent what they are paid to represent. Start appreciating yourself. I don't mean that you go overboard and spend hours in front of the mirror telling yourself how beautiful you are. Learn to accept yourself as you are. There is no such thing as perfect. You may think you have flabby arms and a turkey neck but some
