Ways to fit in exercise even when you do not have the time to exercise.
Whether it is due to an ever changing schedule or an always full schedule, exercise routines sometimes get pushed aside.
But there are some ways to fit in at least some exercise no matter how busy the day is. These tips will help you get exercise time into your schedule consistently.
Skip the gym.
While this might sound contradictory to the whole concept of exercising, it can in fact save you time. Consider the time it takes to get ready, get to the gym, and wait to use the treadmills or machines. Combine all that wasted time with your already busy schedule and you can see why skipping the gym itself can free up exercise time.
Instead of fighting traffic, hunger, and long lines simply stay at home at do some homemade workouts.
Everything from sit ups, push ups, and triceps dips to yoga and brisk walking can get exercise into the schedule. You don't need any equipment and you'll save yourself the time that was spent on getting to the gym.
Squeeze in exercise throughout the day.
Maybe you are so busy that you can't set aside a solid 20-30 minutes for any kind of routine. Consider skipping the elevators, getting off the train a stop early, and walking around in between meetings and tasks.
You can even purchase a pedometer to track each step and motivate you to reach a certain number of steps taken per day.
Take frequent mini-breaks to stand up and walk around throughout the workday as well.
Get up earlier.
While this might not be a fun thing to do, it can do wonders for your workout routine if you are dedicated to it. Even 20-30 minutes earlier in the morning can help you squeeze in a quick run or workout session.
As an added advantage you will be able to get exercising for the day completely out of the way. You also won't be worn out before the workout even begins due to a busy schedule.
Workout on weekends or days off.
While most days may be very busy for you, each day that you have off can be a perfect time to get in an intense workout session. Even if the week was spent squeezing in only small amounts of exercise when you could, a day off can allow you to get an intense hour long workout in.
It is important to stretch properly and not push your body too hard, especially if you don't exercise regularly. Intense does not mean causing injury or shortness of breath. An intense workout can range from a long, brisk walk to a kickboxing session but varies from person to person and skill level to skill level.
Always consult with your doctor before engaging in exercise routines especially those designed to increase heart rate.
