If you are interested in designing a web-site, then there are a few design considerations. Considering these will make for a better web-site.
To begin with, you may consider making some design plans beforehand. For example, the likely size of your web-site and how many pages you may include in it. Then, you might want to consider drafting the home page onto paper. Overall, set some guidelines that relate to fonts to be used the page formats and navigation.
When you have set down some reasonable design guidelines you can start the web page. Now, there are a few options here as to which software to use. In fact, if you are proficient with HTML, then you can just code the site from word processor. However, it would be better to use HTML software (editors) that present a number of HTML options for you.
At any rate, if you are not proficient in HTML then it is better to use a web-authoring tool that will take much of the coding out of it. Dreamweaver and Go Live are two examples of such packages. With such software, you can arrange page layouts and design without HTML. This is the best option for most users.
On-line sites can also be used. These have web-site wizards and templates for web site design. It should be noted, however, that some might find they lack flexibility.
With the software you have chosen you can then start the web-site. Recalling the guidelines, these can be modified if needed. Start with the home page, and then the other pages should follow. The home page should have a good number of links to most other pages to enhance navigation. Frames are often a good addition, which can sub-divide pages.
When the home page is complete, then other pages can be added from here. If you are to use pictures, then consider the size and file format to be used. Consider that too many pictures can slow-down the site so thumbnails can be good in this respect. Also use headings and sub headings for content if appropriate. Overall, the web-site design should be consistent from page to page.
Java-script is also used in addition with HTML. This provides more flexible coding, and can add functionality to sites. If you are not familiar with it, then you can add more small snippets of code provided by Java web-sites. Visit the site: javascript.internet.com for more.
The final stages of web-site design will involve you checking the final pages. Each page should really be checked, in relation to functional links, image sizes and other design details. If possible, preview the site in a few browsers like IE and Firefox. Once checked, then you can proceed to upload the web-site.
Well done! And remember that you can update any site once uploaded.
