Weight loss is one of those topics that stays on most people's list and with obesity levels rising more people should be worried about their weight. The Internet is bombarded with weight loss tips, exercises and diets of all types, but people are still getting fatter. What's the problem?
Weight loss is easy. At least that's what people who have trouble putting it on say. Eat less and you'll drop the weight easily. It's much harder to stuff your face with food. Yeah right, they never had to deprive themselves of the meals they love. No, but really, weight loss isn't difficult, it just requires a little common sense mixed in with some motivation, organisation and discipline.
People make out weight loss to be one of those secrets that only a few uncover. But it isn't that way, in fact with the right tools and attitude, weight loss is achievable but you have to keep in mind, that if you want to lose weight for life and not put it back on, you have to develop a healthy diet and exercise plan that you can stick to for life.
Eat anything you want. That's right, don't give up chocolate and cake, chips or milkshakes if you don't want to. You can have anything you want, just not everything. If all day you have been good and followed a healthy eating plan, it's O.K. to have a small slice of cake or a biscuit with your afternoon tea or supper. Of course that's not permission to eat the entire packet. One is enough. Eat it slowly to enjoy every mouthful.
Exercise everyday. Long ago people didn't need the gym or an aerobics class because their lifestyles required daily movement. They chopped wood, hand washed clothes, walked for miles and miles to buy food and didn't spend their days sitting in front of a computer or television screen. Now as our lifestyles have become more sedentary we need to fit exercise into our day. If you don't like the gym, go for a run or cycle outside. Try the swimming pool at the weekend or invite your friends for a walk in the park instead of coffee and cake in the caf. You'll not only save calories but money too. Aim for 30 - 60 minutes of exercise every day and the weight will start falling off.
Keep your fluids up. Water, green tea, black tea, freshly squeezed juice. These are the types of fluids you want to include in your daily plan. Fluids fill you up, just make sure they are not ridden with calories like Coke. Water is your best choice, if you don't like the taste, add a slice of lemon or orange for more flavour.
Get enough sleep. Sleep is vital for weight loss. We need it to rejuvenate our bodies and be able to function normally every day. Aim to get your eight hours each night. Catching up on weekends doesn't count.
There you have it. A few simple ways to get on your weight loss journey. Eat in moderation, exercise everyday, drink lots of water, and get enough sleep. It can't get any easier then that.
