Ever since I hit puberty, I had smelly armpits. There just seemed to be no deodorant that could get that I've been working outside all day and now smell like onions smell. The smell was really embarrassing. I had to keep my arms down a lot to keep the smell from wafting to the next person. I really didn't want to be the smelly girl in school. It became a big problem when I started playing sports. I had to make sure I reapplied before, after and usually during practices. Even so, the many reapplications never eliminated the smell.
At least I knew I was not alone with my stink-pits. My younger sister had the same problem. This is when I figured it was a genetic thing and we began this quest together to find the perfect deodorant. When money allowed, I bought one type of deodorant and my sister bought a different one. We wore the deodorants as long as we could before our armpits realized that we were trying to mask the smell and ended up mutating on us. I have no idea how our armpits knew, but they did and after a few weeks we were back to stinking again.
We tried everything from roll-ons, gels, aerosol sprays to the regular stick of deodorant. We tried every brand you could think of and I even tried men's deodorant which still didn't work. For almost 20 years I lived with stinky armpits, until finally Secret came out with its Clinical Strength formula. Thanks goodness for a medical breakthrough. I have not had stinky pits since that deodorant type came out. I even went camping with no shower for 3 days and my underarms smelled great. It works harder the more you sweat. My search for the perfect deodorant has ended. As for my sister, she didn't have any luck with Secret Clinical Strength is now on to using this cream stuff that she puts on 3 times per day and swears by it.
Now, since the Secret brand did not work on my sister, I can't say that I found the perfect deodorant for everyone. It's definitely the perfect deodorant for me and my search is over. My advice to those who are still searching is to keep trying. You'll find something that works great and smells great eventually. Just don't frustrated or give up too easily. Also, make sure you write down every brand and scent you used. I know I must have bought the same kind over and over again because I never remembered if I had used it or not. Let's hope you won't have to wait 20 years like I did to find your perfect deodorant.
