Poetry: Letting go

by Christal Collette

Created on: May 20, 2009

I hate the you that makes me work till my fingers bleed with little pay.

But I will do it anyway. And then I'll nurse my pain.

I don't want you to take away the person I had feelings for before they ever knew.

But you will do that anyhow. And I'll release my tears.

I dislike the way you look at me because of my social standing.

But I will befriend you still. And then I'll climb my way to the top.

I anguish at the thought of losing the closest people in my world.

But I will live on. And then I'll grieve alone.

I am distressed when I have to care about things that don't involve me.

But I will take care of them. And hopefully karma will reward my generosity.

I have sorrow for children who go hungry.

But I will feed them. And I will pray everyday that someone will teach them a necessary skill.

I enjoy the misery of knowing that life is short and mostly unwavering in dissapointment.

But I will prevail. And I will look down at those that did me wrong and for the first time I will truly smile.
