Everyone has heard the famous myths concerning "sex foods". What if they weren't myths, what if a healthy diet of the right foods really could give you that boost your sex drive is missing? Well, it's not a myth. There are foods that do just that. And adding these foods to your diet is not only good for your libido but have the added benefit of being good for you too.
Fresh Fruits~
Avocados are high in folic acid which is good in boosting energy. They also contain high levels of B6 vitamins which are known to stimulate male hormone production. And they also contain potassium. Figs are high in amino acids and are known to increase libido and stamina. Bananas contain bromelain enzyme which while increasing the libido also has potassium( which regulates a woman's thyroid gland) and B vitamins which boost energy. Some of the other fruits good for boosting the sex drive are apples, apricots,cherries,coconuts,dates,grapes, mangoes, papayas, pomegranates, raspberries and strawberries.
Vegetables~
Vegetables are an important part in increasing sex drive. Celery contains androsterone which is an odorless hormone released through the body. Garlic contains allicin which increases blood flow to the sexual organs. Also well known are asparagus,carrots,corn,cucumbers, eggplant,onions,leeks,spinach,truffles,turnips and watercress.
Proteins and Lean Meats~
Foods such as chicken and turkey are high in protein which increases energy. Rich in protein foods such as eggs contain vitamins B5 and B6 which serves to increase energy and also combat stress. Liver contains glutamine and is the cellular fuel for the immune system. While not having immediate effects on the libido, liver as a part of a healthy daily diet can have some good effects. Nuts and seeds like almonds are good for hormone production and have the added benefit of being good for your heart.
Seafood~
Oysters are one of the most well-known aphrodisiacs known to man, and not without some merit. The oyster contains zinc and dopamine. Zinc is known to facilitate in testosterone production in both men and women, where dopamine is known to stimulate orgasms and is also known as the "feel good" chemical in our bodies.Fish and shellfish with high levels of omega-3 are known to boost hormone levels. Some of these beneficial shellfish are abalone,cod,clams,halibut,lobster,scallops and shrimp.
And let us not forget chocolate. While some may argue that chocolate is not the healthiest of foods, there is no harm in small quantities. And chocolate is actually proving to have some benefits to our health if eaten in the right amounts. Chocolate contains theobromine which is a bit like caffeine and boosts our energy levels. It also contains phenylethylamine which is said to produce a "mushy-lovey" feeling in some people. Chocolate also contains anti-oxidants which help keep our immune systems at peak performance.
Exercise~
While eating more of the right foods can go a long way towards giving your sex drive the boost it's missing. Also keep in mind the importance of an in general healthy lifestyle. This includes a daily exercise regimen that can be tailored to suit your needs.
Between a healthy diet and exercise program it is possible for almost anyone to boost their libido or just get back that spark they feel like they're missing. So eat right, exercise well, and enjoy the new you.
