Virtual Families is a life simulation game that runs in real time. Your virtual adoptees are going on with their daily routines of cleaning, eating, sleeping, and relaxing even when you exit the game (unless you pause the game before exiting). However, there are certain tasks that your family will be required to accomplish during their day in order for their home to run smoothly. Completing some of these tasks is not quite obvious and can be frustrating to figure out. These are a few hints to help you keep your virtual families home running smoothly should you get in a bind.

Shower Clogged or Broken Toilet

The shower being clogged will be one of the first problems your adoptee will encounter. This repair is quite simple and doesn't require any purchases. Put an adult at the shower and let them see the clogged shower. Then take your adult and place them on the bucket of household items in the laundry room. Your adult will then get a plunger and unclog the shower. Use this same process for a broken toilet by letting your adult see the broken toilet and then placing your adult on the basket of items in the laundry room.

Dryer Lint or Oven on Fire

To put the fire out in the dryer or oven, you will need a fire extinguisher. However, the fire extinguisher is in the shed. In order to get it out, you will need to fix the shed door (see directions below). Once the shed is open, place an adult at the dryer or oven so they can see the fire then place your adult on the fire extinguisher in the shed. Your adult will then take the extinguisher and put the fire out.

Fix and Open Shed Door

There is a doorknob in the sandbox that goes to the shed. Place your adult on the doorknob and the adult will go fix the doorknob. I had to do this several times before my adoptee got the hint. Once the door is fixed, place your adult on the WELCOME mat in front of the house. Your adult will get the key hiding under the mat which unlocks and opens the shed.

Fix Garden Hose

The garden hose is needed for a couple of tasks. One is for watering the flowers and it is also needed to mix the compound used to patch the walls in the workshop. Two adoptees will be needed to fix the hose. First you will need to wait until the waterproof tape becomes available in the store. Once it is available, purchase the tape and place it on or right near the leaking hose. Have an adult either get a drink of water or take a shower to lower the water pressure.
