How to make lean meats tasty

While prime cuts of meat like ribeye and sirloin are tasty they are also loaded with fat. So, how does one make lean cuts of meat like round tasty. Well here's a customizable recipe for cheese steak sandwiches that'll have you snatching up those bargain packs of lean beef every time you're in the store.

This recipe can be sized anyway you need it, but I would recommend you allow for at least pound to of a pound of beef per person. I also recommend you buy some sandwich or burger buns as opposed to a loaf of sliced bread. Whatever cheese you want is okay. I often switch up, but I prefer Swiss. Finally you either buy your favorite beef marinade or if you make your own, then gather round your ingredients.

First go ahead and mix up you marinade in pot that will be big enough to hold it and the beef. It should have a lid, but that's not necessary. For my own sauce I use a bottle of Worcestershire seasoned with garlic, red pepper and sometimes a little onion or onion powder. The recipe is just fine with a bottle of Worcestershire alone, so if you want to experiment with your own sauce it's a good place to start.

Next you're going to have to cut up your meat. Strips work best if you're using long sandwich buns, cube it for hamburger buns or loaf bread. You don't want them much thicker than your thumb or thinner than your pinky.

Take this and either brown or sear them in a frying pan. The choice is your's just be sure you leave the middle pink. It's only the outside we want to cook in the pan.

Take you're meat and put it in the pot with the sauce. If it takes you more than you skillet to cook it all set the pot on low. Once all of your meat is in the pot bring the sauce to a boil.

Once its boiling turn the burner down to low(or whatever setting is going to keep the pot simmering) and cover the pot.

Depending on the size of you're meal and the thickness of the strips or cubes it should take between 15 to 30 minutes for the beef to finish cooking. Be sure to stir it every 5 minutes or so and ensure that the beef is cooked all of the way through before you turn off the burner.

Once your beef is done your all set. Just spoon the beef out of the pot onto your bread then add whatever vegetables(I use none) and condiments(Ranch dressing goes really well) you want and your cheese. Now you're set to go. French fries and potato chips are obvious choices for sides, but there's a good chance you won't have room for them.

It's worth noting that leftovers from this meal keep well and if you store them in the sauce they may even be better after a couple of days and that you can create enough easy variations of this meal by trying different a marinades to keep it in regular rotation around the dinner table without making your family sick of it.
