is that it will require energy to turn our entire infrastructure to a solar and wind driven model. The only energy that is available in large amounts to do the job is fossil fuel energy. In other words, even if we could run solely on solar and wind, we will first have to become much more dependent on foreign oil to do so. Even the materials and processes to make the solar cells and the wind mill blades will require coal and oil in very large amounts. Since the Liberals in charge will close down US fossil energy producers as much as they can over the next few years, we will become more dependent than ever on foreign sources.
By the way, though I personally would use nuclear energy, natural gas, clean coal and all the US oil we could drill including oil from off our coasts and in Alaska, I still think it would be cool if we could go all solar. Solar would be free, that could really boost the economy. Unfortunately, the conversion rates of solar energy into electricity tend to be less than 25%. Yes a lot of investment over a lot of years could improve that and enable that solar powered world that we all dream of but in the mean time, since the Liberals are bent on destroying US fossil fuels, we are fated to become more dependent on foreign oil for the next few years. The time to invest in foreign oil and the tankers to bring it to us is now.
