Toddlers are full of imagination. This is the time in their lives where they retain the most information. Children are like sponges at this age and although many people find flaws in Disney films, I think there is one that captures your heart and is good for toddlers to watch.

Lady and the Tramp is a classic that my brother and I grew up watching. I can remember when mom bought us the VHS and how excited we were to watch it. Although the original was made in the 1950's, there are still many parts that can be applied in life today. It is a Walt Disney original that tells the story of a Cocker Spaniel named Lady and a mutt named Tramp. The story begins when Jim Dear (a loving husband) buys his wife, Darling, a Cocker Spaniel. The three of them live happily in an upscale place in the city. Life couldn't be better Eventually, the wife finds out she is expecting a baby. Lady feels like they are treating her differently and allows her friends to discourage her positive thoughts about a baby being in the house. When Aunt Sarah takes the dog and has her muzzled, she runs away. She meets Tramp and decides to join in his adventures across the city. They begin to roam the city in search of food, fun, and a new life. Lady listens to Tramp's stories of previous homes and owners. The two end up at an Italian restaurant where the famous spaghetti scene takes place. However, Lady ends up captured after being convinced that Tramp is no good for her. She is taken back to the Dear's. Tramp comes to visit and discovers a rat trying to get into the baby's room. Tramp kills the rat before it gets to the baby and afterwards the dogcatcher takes Tramp away. Mr. and Mrs. Dear later retrieve him from the pound and bring him back to their home. Lady and Tramp end up with a litter of four puppies. They live happily ever after at the Dear home.

Lady and the Tramp is an excellent movie for kids. It is colorful and exciting. There are happy scenes, funny scenes, and sad scenes. Audiences find special places in their hearts for all the characters. There is an excellent story in this movie and a lesson to be learned. Kids can learn a lot about pets, love, happiness, and character from watching this film. I'm sure critics can find many things wrong with this film, but overall, I think it is a good movie for toddlers. I think the positive outweighs the negatives in this film. I would definitely allow and enjoy my toddler watching this film.
