The Republic of Chad is a country with several substantial handicaps, that if fixed, could result in the benefit to the nation. Chad's corruption severely hinders growth. Chad is subject to many geographic disabilities and faces deep political damage. In order to understand how Chad requires repair, it is essential to comprehend the amount of unscrupulous extortion and corruption that occurs.

The corruption in Chad is leaving the nation and people at at a severe disadvantage. Corruption destroys Chad's foreign relations including relations with world organizations. Corruption in the country promotes poverty and inhibits beneficial advancement. In his article, feuding and corruption drain Chad of its best chance.

Colin Freeman explains a Chadian school, where every day [students] cram in front of [the teacher], five to a desk and 100 to a classroom; eager to learn in a country where fewer than half the people are literate(1). He then states that these students ought to be the luckiest pupils because after 30 years of civil war, they are the first generation in line to benefit from Chad's new-found oil wealth; which promised to lift the country from poverty when it was tapped, under a World Bank deal, three years ago. Much of the cash is either frittered away on non-existent projects or fattening public contracts run by the president's inner clan(5).

Examples of the corrupt use of money, range from schools and water towers, costing up to 200,000, that had been commissioned and paid for in rural areas; but never built to a 2,000 secretary chair (6). The government's mishandling of the World Bank's loan has resulted in the World Bank [freezing] $124 million in loans already earmarked for Chad(7). Furthermore, President Deby is known for fear mongering, such as reports
