Songs: Life

by Gilbert Barrett

Created on: May 20, 2009

I climb the tree, the highest tree , from up here every little speck of you i see.

My hands are gripping tight , so tight , i'm looking for a mugging , i'm looking for a fight.

I perch like a cat looking to pounce this or perhaps mate that.

I carry a stinch of failure and nicotine, i'm ready to break out and make a scene.

You cross up and down the street , some elegant , some sweet.

Now i know how God feels , so much vanity , greed and envy at your heels.

Crying over pain and disease that comes from selfishness and thrills.

I have a gun, my favorite gun , from up here i feel like having a little fun.

My hands are gripping tight , so tight , i'm looking for a coming , i'm looking for a light.

I perch like a sniper looking to shoot this or identify with that.

I carry a burden of understanding and empathy, i'm ready to treat the devil with sympathy.

You cross in the line of fire , some messy , some neat.

Now i know how God feels, so much vanity , greed and envy at your heels.

Crying over pain and disease that comes from selfishness and thrills.
