Poetry: Desire

by Karen Chaffee

Created on: May 20, 2009

Embers turned yet again to fire
Burning brightly
Growing ever higher

Your continued absence
Drives me
Taunts and teases
Whets this appetite
Invades the night

Raised with sun, poised on the peak of
The purple mountain
Desire burns and teeters on the brink
Awaits your return
That my parched lips might drink
