Testimonies: Renting my first apartment

Testimonies: Renting my first apartment

I remember my first apartment, when I got out of high school. It was in a high-rise building for the elder and the handicap. It was a one bedroom apartment. I love the apartment, because was made for a person with a handicap. I remember some people on my floor, which I was on the fifth floor weren't nice, but there was one couple that was very nice to me. They had a room on the bottom of the floor where you could go in the evening and drink coffee and play games and put together jigsaw puzzles. I was so proud of living there, I was on my own for the first time with out my parents or anyone else. There were places to go shopping for food and clothes and any other things that you may have wanted. I could get on the bus in front of my apartment building and go down to the next town to the show. I remember a time in my apartment I coked my first meal for my family, I so excited about cooking for them and them to see what I had done with my place. I remember my grandfather had made me this big bookcase that was red, and I filled it with books. I wanted them to see where I put the bookcase at. It was my favorite thing that my grandfather made for me. As, you came into my front door of the apartment there was the bookcase filled with my books. As, time went on I got to know some of the people in the building, and I: spent a lot of time playing games and and doing the jigsaw puzzles. Then the high-rise got a bowling teams together, we went bowling once week. I enjoyed bowling with team, because, we won a trophy with round. It was fun, because my mother brought me my own bowling ball for a gift. I was very hard for me to leave my apartment, because I had got sick with Cerebral Palsy, and I had to go into the hospital. So, I had to gave up my apartment. I was a very special apartment that I will never forget. It was a place where I got to be on my own without anyone's help. I could go to places without anyone's help, I could shop for food and buy things that I like to eat, without someone to help me. I felt free and alive for the first time in my life, without someone looking over my shoulder. I think if I wouldn't have gotten sick I would have been there in my first apartment, but things happen for a reason my mother always say. I have went pass the high rise many time and think who is living in my old apartment, I hope that they are having as much happiness, as the apartment had brought me in a short time that I lived there.
