During normal gameplay in The Sims 2, sometimes you can get stuck. It could be something deadly serious, such as your Sims have run out of both food and the money to buy more at the same time and are going into Hunger Desperation, which will prove fatal if not attended to right away, or it could be something as mundane as simply wanting to be able to access one of the hidden outfits or hairstyles while in Create A Sim mode. Fortunately, there are many cheat codes that will enable you to do all kinds of useful things to enhance your gameplay, and if the cheat doesn't exist in-game for what you want to accomplish, there are many mods you can download from Sims 2 fan sites that will enable you to enhance your game in all sorts of ways you may not have even thought possible.
To enable the in-game cheats, you first need to press Control-Shift-C to bring up a pop-up command console across the top of the screen. Into this console, type: boolprop testingcheatsenabled true . This enables cheat mode, and you can now key in whatever cheat command you want to use.
Some of the most useful cheats:
If your Sims are in desperate need of quick cash, such as in the above-mentioned state of being about to go into Hunger Desperation but having no money for groceries, you can use one of the following two commands:
kaching - gives the Sim family you are currently playing 1000 Simoleans
motherlode - gives the Sim family you are currently playing 50,000 Simoleans
If you don't want the Sims family that you're currently playing to grow old and eventually die, and/or you want your child or teenager Sims to stay children or teenagers, type: aging off. To re-enable aging, simply type: aging on.
When in Build or Buy modes, you may sometimes want to place an object somewhere that the game won't normally let you. If you type: moveobjects on, you will now be able to place the object anywhere. Once done, type: moveobjects off so that you don't accidentally place any further objects somewhere inappropriate by mistake and cause possible glitches.
To un-hide the hidden clothing and hairstyles in Create A Sim mode, press Shift-N before creating your Sim. You'll get a message on the screen saying that you are now in debugging mode. Now when you look at the outfits and hair styles in the clothing or hair bins, you'll find many additional items that would normally be hidden (because they are reserved for the NPCs in the game). Press Shift-M when finished, to disable debugging mode.
