What is aromatherapy?

Can aromatherapy really spur you on to success, help you find the love of your life and create harmony in all you do? Well, throwing a bottle of scented oil at a problem certainly won't solve it, but aromatherapy can help you achieve all that and more by enhancing your sense of well being and self esteem.

Once you are in harmony with yourself and your surroundings, the world is your oyster. Good things will come to you because you know you deserve them. Your life will be happier because aromatherapy can help you achieve that most illusive goal to be at peace with yourself.

Aromatic oils are not just nice smells. They have therapeutic qualities that you can put to work in your life in many ways. You know how good you feel after a scented luxurious bath, or when you try a new perfume that really suits your style. Aromatherapy is just taking these basic principles of well being and infusing them into every area of your life.

With a knowledge of what essential oils are and how they work, you can create your own aromatherapeutic first aid kit, which you can call on to give yourself an instant confidence boost or a longer lasting change in health and well being. Essential oils are just that the essential distilled oils of plants.

There is a big difference between essential oils and cheaper products such as craft oils besides the price. Of the latter, some are the real thing considerably diluted with cheap carrier oils, while others are purely synthetic. Neither have any therapeutic properties.

To gain the full value of aromatherapy, you hav to have essential oils. These are far more readily available now than they were decades ago. You can even buy some essential oils, such as lavender and tea tree, at competitive prices in supermarkets. In fact, lavender is one of the most essentials in your essential oil arsenal.

Lavender is classified as a floral oil. These are relaxing oils which have a number of properties. It is derived from the lavender plant which grows abundantly in many areas of the world and has a distinct, pleasurable fragrance.

Lavender oil is an antiseptic, anti depressant, deodorizing, calming, pain relieving and safe oil with which to begin your stock of essential oils. You can add a few drops of lavender oil to the bath, to witch hazel or a mixture of witch hazel and alcohol for a refreshing cologne or sprizter, to sachets to place among your clothes (it will also ward ff moths), to cleaning products used around the house, and to your pet's bedding
