Writing to make large sums of money is a lofty goal that many people seek. People but into the idea that becoming a writer will make them wealthy, famous or both. The writers who make huge salaries and are household names are few and far between. However, writing can bring some additional income with the right effort and the right attitude.

There are several ways that writers can increase their income. The following tips can help writers increase their income is several areas online writing, newspaper, and magazine publishing.

Quality over quantity

One high quality article will draw more writing revenue than a dozen mediocre ones. A high quality article also has a higher possible resale value. Writers need to be sure what rights they are selling to their publisher. Unless the fees are unusually good or there are special circumstances, it is considered unwise to sell all rights or exclusive rights to material. Exclusive or all rights means that the writer does not have the right to publish that article again.

Develop a Good Writing Plan

Quality writing does take time and effort but with proper planning the process can be streamlined. Streamlining the writing process is easier than most might think. Begin with the idea for the article and write an article skeleton or outline. Following the outline write an opening and closing for the article. The only thing left is the body which is already outlined for easy writing.

Increase Quality Output

By writing high quality articles on a regular basis revenue can be multiplied. Determine what makes the best earning articles work so well. Is there a specific need addressed that is common to many people? Is the subject matter unique or handled in a unique manner? The greater the number of articles the larger the number of page views at the end of the month. However, if the article does not meet the people's needs they will not view the article.

Understand that writing quality and writing quantity will happen over time. No writer will be able to create hundreds of high quality articles overnight. Take a steady and disciplined pace to writing and be patient. Writing revenue increases with time and with the output of quality writing.
