Sometimes it seems like television executives have no clue what TV shows viewers really want to watch. Every year popular television programs get cancelled for supposedly poor ratings, yet so many people seem to be fans. Whenever your favorite television show gets canceled, it's disappointing and sometimes hard to find a good replacement for it week after week. It's like losing a good friend sometimes. But there are some things you can do to try and help save a TV show from cancelation.

The first thing you need to do is get organized and try and spread the word to other fans about the TV show's possible future cancelation. Find a way to join with other fans of the show and group together to show just how big the fan base is. Create a public website devoted to the TV show and its fans. Provide fans with message boards and chat rooms to communicate with each other and show support for the television show. Use websites like MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook to get the word out and link up with other fans. Post daily updates about the show, its stars, and producers on all of these websites for as much exposure as possible. List contact information for the show's executives and urge fans to write to them in support of the show. But keep everything you post and write upbeat and positive. Even if you are angry, try and stay positive and polite with your comments and opinions.

Once you have a sizable group of fans gathered together online, find ways to work as a team. Consider starting an online petition and have all of your fan connections sign it and leave positive comments about the show. Then spread the petition around the web. Place links on other websites and message boards so that other fans can participate in the 'save the TV show' campaign. Another idea to help your cause is to contact your local media. If your favorite television show is on a local network television station that has a nightly news program, contact them about your quest to save the television show. Most likely they will find your plight news worthy and topical and might give your cause some added exposure. Someone in the news department might even do some constructive investigating with the story and bring it to the attention of network executives.
