Poetry: Thoughts

by Madeline Greet

Created on: May 19, 2009

It's not the magical fairy tale ending that I imagined.

I am not famous.

I am not rich.

I am in love,

but it is not perfect.

As a child, I eagerly anticipated

the adult life that awaited me.

As an adult,

I mourn my expired childhood.

I live in my memories of my imagined future,

The way I expected life to be.

I live in my memories of the past,

And I try to accept the present that I didn't expect.
