The best restaurants in Greenwich Ct
Greenwich Connecticut was founded in 1642, many people over the years have decided to call it home. Others have come to visit and in recent times to dine on some of the best food in Connecticut. No matter what you are looking for, a romantic night out with fabulous French food or a delicious and casual seafood dinner, you will find it in Greenwich.
Thomas Henklemann
420 Field Point Rd
Classically trained German chef Thomas Henklemann has brought his years of experience to Greenwich and since 1999 has received four Mobil Stars every year. This is French cuisine with the contemporary twist that only Thomas could bring to it. The most romantic evening of your life is awaiting you at this prestigious restaurant and Inn.
There are many outstanding choices from an appetizer of tomato soup created with organic tomatoes and awash with semolina dumplings to entrees of tri-color fettuccine with fricassee of lobster. For the meat lover the loin of lamb or the rack of veal are perfectly cooked and presented with sauces and accompaniments to delight any palette. You will be presented with an amuse bouche before your meal and if possible save room for the divine desserts. What could be more exquisite than roasted peaches stuffed with marzipan?
Allow the sommelier to chose your wines or order your own favorites from their well stocked cellar. This is a meal for a very special occasion or for the gourmand, no occasion at all is necessary.
Elm Street Oyster House
11 West Elm Street
If it is seafood and oysters in particular that you are craving it doesn't get much better than this especially if you don't want to put on a suit and tie. The oysters are served in a variety of ways from the raw bar to pan-fried and they are gathered from around the country. Whether you want to eat oysters from Fishers Island or from California you will find them here.
If you are looking for exceptional paella they offer one that includes a half lobster as well as sugar peas for that additional crunch. While the exterior of the building may be nondescript no-one would ever use those words to describe the bar here with the stunning copy of the painting of Madam X by John Singer Sergeant. Check the blackboard for the fish of the day, and know that no matter what you chose it will be fresh and well prepared.
This is a very popular local restaurant and if some might find it pricey others believe you get what you pay for.
The next time you are looking for a special dining experience, head to Greenwich Ct and enjoy what this amazing city has to offer. Greenwich really is in a class by itself when it comes to fine dining.
