Lake Erie is at the top of any fishing persons list. It is known as the "Walleye Capital of the World", yes the world. Lake Erie being the shallowest of the Great Lakes with an average depth of 62 feet and a maximum depth of 210 feet makes it a perfect breeding ground for Walleye and breed they do. You can catch Walleye from just about anywhere in Lake Erie and charter boats to do so. If you enjoy fishing a charter is a great way to spend the day with family or friends or you can make it a corporate event. Walleye are great fighters and a lot of fun to catch. Take your catch home or catch and release. Either way you will have fun.
If you prefer to dine on fish while cruising the lake instead of fishing for your meal you will definitely enjoy the Nautica Queen. Located on the Flats West Bank in Cleveland, Ohio you can experience the unique river cruise while dining. During your cruise you will view historical bridges and be presented with the Cleveland skyline. You will enjoy cruising the Cuyahoga River while enjoying dinner and drinks. A dinner cruise is wonderful for the family to experience some Cleveland history and it is also romantic sharing it with that special person in your life.
Let's not forget the Goodtime III which is the largest sightseeing vessel in Cleveland. The Goodtime III boasts four decks and operates a regular Lake Erie and Cuyahoga River cruise schedule with narrated sightseeing from June through September. The Goodtime III also has other cruises such as a theme cruise, dance cruise and Friday happy hour cruises periodically. The Goodtime III is docked at the East Ninth Street Pier next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Local Clevelander's and visitors alike will experience the "Bend in the River" and Lake Erie Cleveland skyline tours while relaxing on the decks of this marvelous ship.
Lake Erie has something for just about everyone including crypto zoologists. Yes Lake Erie has its very own Lake Monster. Allow me to enlighten you, "Bessie" is the creatures name and the first recorded sighting goes all the way back to 1817. Bessie is reported by eyewitnesses to be a black and greenish serpent like creature that is approximately 30 to 50 feet in length. Bessie was even written up in the New York Times in 1931 for all of the fuss it caused. Sightings of the creature continue to this day. So you can always take a boat and go monster hunting on the lake, I have heard a rumor that there is even a reward for a humane capture of Bessie.
There is plenty to do on Lake Erie in Cleveland from fishing, dinner cruises, sightseeing cruises, and boating, water-skiing and jet-skiing to monster hunting. You just can't help but have fun on Lake Erie.
