I never realized I like all things vintage until my fiance and I started ring shopping and I fell in love with the vintage style rings. I wanted something completely different than the norm of the 21st century, something beautiful, and something inexpensive. The vintage style ring filled this requirement. And so began my odyssey of all vintage-wear for my wedding.

After I discovered a love for vintage-wear after receiving my ring, I began looking at vintage wedding gowns. I searched the Internet for all things vintage and antique and discovered unique vintage stores with dresses from a simpler time. Once I started looking at vintage dresses, I started looking at gowns glamorous Hollywood actresses would have worn in the 1930s and 1940s; beautifully stunning gowns that are not seen today. I was looking something very sensual, not the standard princess dress. Of course it had to be white. A week ago, I found thee dress I wanted to buy. Curiosity got the best of me, and I started looking at other vintage jewelry to wear on my wedding day and in the process of searching for such jewelry.

To anyone who is looking for all things vintage on their wedding day, I recommend the following:

Search the Internet. Do keyword searches of vintage dresses, vintage jewelry, etc. Also, do the same type of searches using the word antique instead of vintage. This takes time to find all the vintage stores this country has to offer. You also need to know when you're getting married and factor in time of delivery when purchasing on-line. If you can't find what you're looking for on-line, ask grandma, an elderly aunt, etc for great finds. What they think is old, outdated and not longer in use; you may see it and think wow, I must have that! Just make sure you ask before you take it. As far as vintage wedding dresses go, I've found that they are simple. They are not fancy frolics you would expect to find in a modern day bridal store. If you're looking to have a simple wedding, maybe an elopement, a vintage wedding dress may be perfect for you. If you're looking to spend large amounts of money just on the dress alone, then a vintage wedding dress probably isn't the way go. Don't forget to try ebay.com. I've never bought anything from ebay.com, but did do a search of vintage dresses, jewelry, etc and a lot of things did come up in the search results. See if the city you live in has antique stores, you might find great finds there too! Remember to enjoy yourself. Your wedding is going to look completely different than the weddings of your friends and family because you decided to go against the norm. You decided to go vintage! Enjoy!
