Revisiting Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech

I Had A Dream

Every night of my life, I dream. But every morning I wake up to nightmares. In my dreams, pandas and monkeys play in my backyard, jumping from tree to tree. They are free to roam and live their beautifully innocent lives. I awake to see no monkeys or pandas around me, but I hear their cries as tree after tree is sucked out of the earth. Everyday habitats and homes are destroyed. Humans think we have a lot of homeless, but just look at all the beggar pandas and vagabond monkeys. I dream of a world where we live in a civilization of diversified religions that tolerate each other. But I awake to hear Reasonable Accommodations and freely uttered racial slurs propagated on the internet, radio and newspaper. I dreamt many nights ago of a world of solar power and nuclear fuel. But I awake to increasing threats of nuclear war and the only solar powered technology is my calculator. Every country feels the need to protect itself with nuclear bombs which no one will have the guts to use, hopefully. While the AK-47 is performing mass destruction all over the world, we never read about that in the newspaper. I slept for days dreaming of brotherly love and world wide unity, but all I got from the tooth fairy was a slap in the face. Iran is the new nuclear threat, but so is North Korea, Cuba, Israel, China, Russia, France, Germany, Australia, and the United States. Every country is united by the fear of each other. Every country is united by the same nuclear uranium it possesses. Every country is united by the sick smiles on political and military faces when child soldiers march and anarchy prevails.

I dreamt in a long coma state that the world was green and blue with flowers and you. But when the doctors resuscitated me, I looked out my window to see a world of bombshells and darkness, with mountains of pollution and green gassy air. You weren't with me in this world, you left it long ago, and moved on to Atlantis, the only peaceful country sunk in this earth.

I am tired of dreaming, every dream is crushed, every pure desire is shattered. I am tired of getting myself sick over a humanity that doesn't deserve my love. I fell asleep enraged and crying. Then it came to me. A true Messiah, it wasn't Jesus or Moses or Mohammed, no it was an innocent panda playing the harp. He told me to keep on fighting with my holy sword and shield, because people like me, hidden in the shadows of every civilization are
