I had always wanted the big fancy wedding and in on my day I got just that. If only I had know I picked the wrong person to share that day with me. The drinking started and then the other women, needless to say I ran for the hills. The divorce was horrible, but as the time has passed I am so glad I did it. I have my children and my puppy and that is all I really need. They are both at the age where we can travel and do whatever we want. So I have many great reasons for being single and loving it.
I love to travel and the kids and I have an adventure side of ourself and we love to try new things. So just being us we do not have anyone to drag us down and make us miss out on some fun memories. We have made up our own traditions for birthdays, Christmas, and special time from school. I make and pay the bills myself and do not have to consult with anyone or have them tell me I do not need something that I really want. We plan trips with my girl friends and just have fun without the spouse's impact on what else should of been done. I do not have to deal with his side of the family anymore and that is a blessing of it's own.
I have plenty of guy friends, so if I have a wedding or party that I need a date with I ask one of them. That way it is fun and there are no strings attached. They also do the same with me so there is no awkwardness at all, just a night out having a blast. Also I do not have to deal with someone else driving my car. I do not have to get in and find a mess or have to readjust my seats. If I need a man's point of view I call one of my male friends and get an honest answer. When my son wants to fish I borrow one of my male friends to come along and they will take off the fish for us. Then they go home and we go on with the rest of our day, it is just great not to have that feeling of, "what do I do with him now " question.
I do not have to wake up to see someone drinking out of the milk carton or yelling for them to put the seat down in the bathroom. I do not have to chase and trap sweaty clothes to get them in the washer. I do not have to have any family outings on his side, and have to put on that fake smile like I am enjoying myself. I do not have to listen to his mother tell me how I could do things differently raising kids or taking care of her son. I also do not have to deal with his sick days, with him laying on the couch acting like he is dying. Running me from store to store to get something that he does not need.
Above all I do not have to deal with any of his bad habits anymore, like the burping, gas, or just him saying something stupid in front of our neighbors. As the years passed and he remarried and I see how she has to live and what she has to put up with. I say my prayers that I am single and loving it. Just to see what my future would of been with him is a nightmare not a dream. I love being single and doing all the things I want to with the kids. I have no one to have to run home and make dinner for, we can just stay out all night if we wanted to. I am at the happiest point of my life and it is all due to being single.
