YOU NEVER TOLD ME
You've always been here
To mend the anguish
To give advice and guidance
In this point of time.
I need you now and there
Are no words to disguise
The silence that fills the empty space
That echoes from my mind.
You were there to pray
Over me when I was distressed.
You were there to chase
Away the heaviness.
You were there to sway me
To rock me to sleep.
You were there to teach me
To pray my soul to keep.
You never told me
How much pain there would be
When Jesus came
To take you away from me.
No words of comfort.
No songs to sing.
No phone calls
To say, "Hey hon, it's me."
No words could prepare me.
No songs can console.
I yearn daily for
Your face to hold.
Your beautiful blue eyes.
You're jet-black hair.
Those rosy red cheeks
No make up could compare.
I'm proud of you mama
Your dignity and grace.
Your strength and courage
Is mine to embrace.
