What the world needs now is Peace. Peace from the constant wars battling around the world. Peace from the sounds of gunfire even on our streets. Peace from the needless noise.
As I raise my children, I watch the world decay. I watch on my TV the children of Palestine that cry out for help, wondering what they have done that is so bad that they need die. Peace is so simple from people like me so far away, but for the two countries of Israel and Palestine is seems like distant dust.
The people of Pakistan have Peace on the edge, as the Taliban inch closer to destructing their world. The rest of the Global community wait and hold their breath.. is this it, is this catalyst that destroys world peace.
North Korea seems to enjoy threatening to destroy our peace, Every couple of weeks they let us know they are still there and still crazy. From my TV, I sit and wonder if they should be taken seriously or ignored, but I guess I am not their neighbor.
All over the world there are countries raging with war, terrorizing their neighbors and their people. Peace is so far away and where do you start, where do you finish. As I turn off my TV, I look closer to home. The peace is not here either, it seems the religions are disturbing the air, the Islamics versus Christians, something that hardly existed a decade ago. We took for granted the peace, we did not care. September 11 changed all that and out of the ashes came hate and mistrust.
The drivers on the road, they are all now in a rush, a rush to get to work, a rush to get away, they are so in a rush they scream through my peace, they dominate their lanes and push and shove. The peace is not found on my road.
Can we all just stop and take a breath, inhale, exhale and wait a minute. It can all be good again, if we can smell that rose, if we can all just consider the options first.
I am a believer that peace can exist, my kids need to see peace, everyone's children need to exist in peace. Our world is too precious to give up on it, we need our leaders to stand up and demand that it happens. There are more solutions that war to stop war.
Shake someone's hand, give them an embrace. Share, communicate and accept that not everyone is the same. Respect their space.
Maybe I need to find some inner peace. Maybe I need to climb that mountain and exhale, erase the anxiety and worry that I experience, turn off the TV and give away the car keys. Turn back time and take up knitting again.
Sounds good.
