Nutrition should be a priority and part of every man's health regimen and lifestyle. Even more important, is actually knowing what nutrients are the most essential and vital to our needs. Some of these nutrients can be found in most multi-vitamin supplements, but it is also best to know what foods contain these nutrients. A combination of foods and supplements can provide the perfect balance for a healthy body.

There are basically 10 top nutrients considered by medical experts that men should include as a part of their daily dietary needs. These nutrients are designed to keep our bodies healthy as we age, and also prevent illness and disease.

Beta Carotene

Beta Carotene is an antioxidant that helps fight and neutralize free radicals, which are responsible for aging and disease. The body converts beta carotene to vitamin A which aids in cell growth, immunity, and healthy vision. We can also find this nutrient in foods like dark, leafy vegetables, carrots and fruits like mango's, papaya and oranges. Another excellent source is the supplement Astaxanthin, which is safe and is one of the most powerful in the beta carotene family. This supplement helps improve vision, increases your energy and also has properties that benefit your heart and cardiovascular system.

Vitamin B 12

This essential vitamin helps maintain healthy red blood cells which is important because they deliver oxygen to the body tissues via the blood. Vitamin B 12 also aids in making DNA which is the foundation of our genetic makeup. Beside a B 12 supplement, this crucial nutrient can also be found in meat, fish, eggs and dairy products like milk and yogurt. B 12 has also been known to boost energy levels.

Vitamin K

This nutrient serves a variety of purposes, including helping the blood to coagulate. It also provides the body with essential proteins and aids in the healing of cuts and wounds. Green leaf lettuce, kale, spinach and the skin on grapefruit and oranges, provide sufficient amounts of Vitamin K. This vitamin is especially important for people that suffer from hemophilia. Hemophilia is a genetic disorder that impairs the bodies ability to stop blood from clotting or coagulating.

Potassium

Potassium is one of the most important nutrients our body requires. It is also an important electrolyte responsible for growth and maintenance. It is beneficial to our health in a myriad of ways. It helps regulate and stabilize our blood pressure. It aids in the function of our heart
