Discipline is crucial for growing children. It assists in the establishment of structure, boundaries and respect.

"Discipline" is defined as the techniques or practices of clarifying and implementing appropriate patterns of conduct.

From the moment a child is born, they are aware of what is right and wrong. It is up to the parent to enforce it. It is enforced through constant discipline. This discipline shapes and molds a child as they continue to grow. They form a set of moral codes based on what they received from home.It is important that parents use effective techniques to discipline their children. Here are a few.

:" Time out" occurs when a child misbehaves and is the result of it. "Time out" is a period in which a child is set to the side alone for a few minutes. During this time, they are not to participate in any activities. After the time out is over, the child is asked a few questions. These questions are aimed at getting the child to see the error of his or her own ways. This task is quiet difficult because most children are too young to see the harm they cause others. However, over time , the use of :" time out" has proved to be effective. This technique works best when parents are consistent and follow through each and every time.

Spanking

"Spanking" is defined as a gentle pat on the backside. This is not abuse. It is simply a form of discipline. When a child continues to be unruly, sometimes a spanking is needed. Through this method, a child will learn not to misbehave. This is attributed to what a spanking represents. When a child gets spanked, it is not pleasant. What they will remember is not to do certain things because it will result in an unpleasant consequence.

Revocation of Privileges

In the real world, people get their privileges taken away when they do something bad. The same should go for the children. When a child engages in bad behavior, privileges should be taken away. This can Internet, phone, television and social events. Depending on the crime, the child will either have their privileges taken away for a few days or a solid week. This strategy proves to be very effective. They will learn that doing bad things will result in losing things they enjoy.

Parents have the power to place limits on children when they are young. The earlier this is set in the place, the better off the child will be. Consistency and endurance are the keys to adequate discipline.
