Poetry: Meaning of life

by Barry Mccormick

Created on: May 16, 2009

A questioned pondered by many, understood by a few

Our purpose, meaning, reason for being,

What were we created to do?

Is our purpose in our final destination, our death?

Do we simply live to die, or for more?

Is our life simply meaningless?

I believe in a higher purpose.

I believe in life there is hope.

I believe we have a reason for being;

Our purpose, reason, and meaning.

What is this purpose we've been looking for?

A focus which to aim our thoughts and actions towards,

A target that will shape our lives and change our words.

Change our words to encourage and build up,

Not to take away someone's confidence

Speaking words of life and of hope

Being a voice for those who have none,

Making a difference for the broken,

and picking up those who are downtrodden.

"The meaning of life?" You ask,

Simply is to love.

To love so much that injustice hurts

To have a love that moves to action
