Poetry: Silence

Some believe silence to be a most unsociable girl, for my part I have always found her to embody the very pinnacle of intimacy.

She understands like no other.

Teases and provokes, but never assumes.

Not the feigned pseudo-silence, that so often pervades our lives.

I talk of the pure unadulterated silence that comes so very rarely, but is all the better for it.

The kind that hits you like cold water, makes every thought seem ten times clearer and yet somehow less corporeal.

She is the light footed ballet dancer that stirs in us all manner of noise, a cheeky privative or captured ghost who calls, and shouts, and sings, for no ones sake.

Oft sought, perhaps it is romance, rather than reality, that stirs her breast.

All I know is I long for silence kiss, to feel her peace, to know her the way she knows me.
