My Great, True, Personal Garden Story - memoirs

My cats loved me, but I just had to spend time in my garden! It was important. I grew seeds, after sending away for them. Just like my parents used to do. It was essential. I had to have some different plants in the garden, ones which benefited me, since I had dug up a little of it!

Okay, so I had some wonderful peonies, something to put on the kitchen windowsill, to make one feel better! Something that gave colour to it and a great feel! My garden had become buried in weeds, which were definitely not positive! The hoe would have to come out!

In one corner there was a lovely purple lily, about 3 foot tall I think. Giving such colour, such brightness! Though, it was burying my rose! I would have to move it and all the other parts of the bulbs. After all, roses were a very grand part of the garden.

In the winter, I had put some seeds on my windowsill tomatoes, lettuces, rocket, and even some beans! I had also bought some herbs from do it yourself stores (sage, to combat insomnia - by being in tea, and; thyme, for soups, starters etc.,) to add to my collection outside the bay leaf, mint, and I tried to grow parsley from seed, but unfortunately I dropped it! This didn't put me off! I would grow some more. Determination shone through! By the time I knew it, I would be an expert.

There were also some kind of daisies in the garden with long green stems pushing their ways for attention, Michaelmas I think! But then I was not an expert!

I had also put 4 potatoes from Tesco's bought ones into a tub, a little after Christmas - waiting to be pulled. Though, I was still waiting for flowers on the top of these to appear! This I was certain!

After all, now that I was happier, being about 10 stone, I was able to see more things - my ideal weight for my size being one! One year I had grown some wonderful cyclamens for Christmas and given one or two to my neighbour. We were always swapping things then.

The previous night I had remembered to put out my bean, from my inside pot! I knew I should have put it out in the day gradually, easing it outside over a week or two, but I knew I was late with it and the other bean in my pot inside was needing the space to grow!

A week or two before I had mown the grass and the compost bins were topped up well with the freshly mown cuttings of hay/grass! The lawn had been too tall and now, you could walk on it, without the cats playing hide and seek in the tall stems! I had not smelled the fresh smell of newly mown grass, but that did not matter! It would be done again and again. The smell would then be sweet in my nostrils! This was my great true personal garden story!
