Father's Day is quickly approaching, and you certainly want to recognize Dad on this important day! After all, he has put up with all kinds of things from you, including bratty behavior, dings in the car and unending giggles.
Given that time are tough, it's wise to be somewhat cost-conscious this year when shopping for Father's Day. It really is the thought that counts, so you should not feel guilty to cut back a bit on spending this year.
Looking for gift suggestions? Below are some top ideas for inexpensive Father's Day gifts.
* Homemade treats
If your father is like most, he adores desserts! One of the coolest things you can do for your father is to bake him a homemade cake or some chocolate chip cookies.
Put some effort into it, and make it from scratch. Or you can use one of the recipes that start with a cake mix but adds other ingredients to doctor it up a bit. There are some excellent cakes made that way!
Do not shrug off baking if you are not experienced because anyone can follow a recipe. There are numerous online recipes available. Check out www.allrecipes.com for some options of yummy things you can make Dad.
* Crocs and potted plant
Does your father like to garden? Then get him a new pair of Crocs. Even if he already has a pair, then you can update his. These shoes are truly ideal for the garden.
Then pick out a nice potted plant to accompany the new outdoor shoes. You could assemble this in a cute way, such as in a big pail.
You can take this idea and really do all kind of other things as well. There are lots of neat gardening things out there, and not all are expensive. Instead of a potted plant, for example, you could provide seeds for your favorite flowers. Then your father would be reminded of you when they bloom.
* Personalized Father's Day card
One neat thing to do is to customize your Father's Day card. There are some really neat ones at Kodak Gallery's website (www.kodakgallery.com).
From your home computer, you can drag various photos into a card template, and then you can also write your own message to be printed in the card. Fathers love cards, and they will be even more delighted when they see a highly personalized one!
* Candy
You really cannot go wrong with sweets. If you do not have time to do some baking, then get Dad a nice box of Godiva chocolates. Since you are trying to cut back on spending, just choose one of the really small boxes. Remember, it is the thought that counts.
* Time with you
Your father may not admit it, but what he would really like is more time with you. This is especially the case if he is retired and you are busy with your own adult life. Make a commitment to yourself to spend more quality time with your father in the coming year, and it can all begin on Father's Day!
Life truly is precious, and it is your responsibility to make the most of your time. Carving some in with your father is a great gift idea, and not just for Father's Day.
