Global warming is not a threat. Nor is it happening at the present time.

Relax! The world is not coming to an end. Don't be frightened of global warming. It is good for you! Global warming is like a shower of rain falling on your vegetable garden. It is good stuff and should be welcomed, when it happens, which is not always, or even predictably!

The media is always in hype mode. The days of true investigative journalism have long gone and is rarely encountered today. The first priority of the media (TV, radio and newspapers) is to make a dollar in order to survive. Who cares whether what they report is bunkum, or biased nonsense. They are like buying a used car; it is viewer/listener/buyer beware! What else can you expect?

There are very few newspapers in the world today that fairly publish a wide range of viewpoints on the controversial topic of global warming, or climate change, as is the preferred name today. Certainly "The Australian" which is Australia's national newspaper is one of them. I note in the latest issue that circulation of the "Weekend Australian" has increased by 3.7 % with 316,194 copies sold, which is bucking the general downward trend for newspaper sales worldwide.

However, the major factor for the steady decline of newspapers is the competition from the Internet, due to the advertising buck, but also partly from being able to access a wide range of viewpoints, or should I say, "raw information" that has not been manipulated and processed by overworked and under paid journalists having limited knowledge. The Internet is not controlled by Governments, TV or newspaper editors, or anybody really. Long may it continue! The Internet is a great American invention which protects our freedoms and hopefully will continue to promote democracy throughout the world.

Global warming? I love it! It happens all the time! Every day, in fact. It is nothing to be frightened of.

This morning I was reluctant to get out of bed because my senses told me it was more chilly than usual. I did make the effort and viewed my kitchen thermometer which showed 17 degrees C. Wow! Not to mind. I knew for certain that when the sun comes up, the day would be warmer with a May autumn outdoor maximum temperature of about 22 C, or 71 F for you Americans.

Winter temperatures may range from 5 to 20 C daily here in Adelaide, South Australia. In the summer a daily range of 20 to 40 C is not unusual. This last summer there were 5 consecutive days over 40 C , with a maximum
