Seeing life through a child's eyes

Seeing things through the eyes of a child is the most precious thing you'll ever experience. I have two young children and I get the honor and joy of seeing this many times a day. No matter if they are six months old or ten the experience is quite unique and different in each age group. Looking at things through my six year old son's eyes when he was little is very different then looking at them in my two year old daughters eyes. Boys and girls defiantly are not the same nor do they look at things the same.

My son decided when he was around two or so that he did not want anything to do with grass. I was outside doing some gardening and placed him in the yard and he began to scream. I guess it was the feeling of how the grass was to him that threw him for a loop. Looking at grass through my daughters eyes is a whole different experience because she loves it. She will take each blade of grass out one by and look at it with great intent as if it were something spectacular. To her I guess it was.

Little boys generally have this sense of get right in there and grab life by the horns. In this case it means that when they see grass for instance, they rip it to shreds. Not every Little boy is like this but in general this is what I have observed. My daughter however is so delicate in her surroundings. Don't get me wrong there are times when she can grab life by the horns herself and get harsh with life as well but for the most part she is gentle. When you see things through a child's eyes you get the sense that life is so simple. In this day and age when the world seems so uncertain and complicated you don't take the time to sit down and really look at life from a more simple perspective.

Looking at life through their eyes helps you to slow down for one brief moment in your day and really kind of take a breather. Life is to be enjoyed and we sometimes take it for granted. It never seems to amaze me how babies function. They can look at the same book a hundred times but each time they seem to find something different in the book. If it were me and I had to look at it a hundred times I might get a little uninterested in the book. There again lies the point that babies and kids are so much more simple. I have enjoyed sharing some of the same things with my daughter that I shared with my son and it never seems to amaze me how different they look at things.

We being humans are all different. No two is alike and that is what makes looking at life through a child's eyes so wonderful because you can show two of them the same object and they can play with it two different ways. Kids do not have to worry. They just know that their basic needs are going to be met and the less worries they have the less stress put on everyone around them. Why can't we have that child like faith? Always not worrying about where things are going to come from but knowing that all things will work out. I advise you to try looking at life through a child's eyes. You might surprise yourself how much clearer it all becomes.
