I still believe that opennes in a relationship is the key to a successful partnership. If you're not open with your significant other, for whatever reason, then it shows that you're not really respecting your relationship. Especially if you're in a current relationship that is definitely going somewhere, ie. it will lead you to marry th guy/girl, then you would not want to keep anything a secret from them. Start a relationship with an honest heart and open mind, and if you do, then you have the time, and the right, to make a decision whether you want to marry the person in the end. If the 'secret' of your past affair gets out only after you're married, then you're only making things difficult for yourself and your partner. So being open in the beginning will definitely help you to build a good relationship in the long run.
