"No Fence Sitting With God"
I knew a "fence-sitter" once. Well, kind of. He thought in this manner: "I'm going to say there is a God, and I'll live a decent life style. Not some church-going, "bible-thumping," type, but respectable towards people. When I die, if there is a God, I should be in pretty good shape to get in His good graces. If there isn't any God, then I haven't lost anything..."
How sad.
Just think about it for a minute. Let's say a person buys a house. Then, one day, this person decides, for whatever reason, he's only going to live "something" like a homeowner. He mows the yard, slaps on a new coat of paint now and then, lends tools to the neighbors, and such. He'll even make a payment or two now and then, when he feels especially "homeowner-ish." Although he may give the appearance of owning that home, how long will the bank let him keep his house if he skips a few payments? Obviously, not long!
We may be able to fool ourselves and perhaps some of our family and friends with an uncommitted posture toward God. We may even comfort ourselves a bit with the thought that we 'have time and can decide the matter later.' Some just can't decide at all. Meanwhile, time just keeps slipping away. But the one who matters most, even more than us, is God. He NEVER hesitated to love and accept us...all He asks is that we trust in Him. However, the Lord has also made another fact very clear. Either a person is with Him or he's against Him! As humans, if we can't trust in someone, we usually don't have anything to do with them. It is no different with God.
In Hebrews 11:6, the scripture says "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." The Lord wants only those who choose to trust in Him and the life He has promised those who follow after Him. There is no place for doubt! Any who would choose to "sit the fence" will sadly be missing out entirely on the love and goodness our Father offers us...freely!
Even those who live as "part-time" Christians are not acceptable to the Master, just as the "part-time" homeowner isn't satisfactory to the bank. Our Savior wrote, through John, in Revelation 3:16 to the church in Laodicea: "So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Our Lord God, along with His Son, Christ Jesus want as many people to live in the kingdom of heaven as possible. However, we must have faith, and be convicted of sincere heart and mind, living as Godly a life as we can to gain the prize of eternal life.
As humans, we are capable of much loving trust. We are also given to doubts and fears...and the devil COUNTS on them! Satin uses negative emotions to knock people off track in their journey to heaven. Not meaning to be harsh or cruel; but people MUST make the decision to believe or not. There is a battle raging on for human souls, and we must take a stand! Either we are committed enough to stand with God, or we will be doomed to loose our very lives to satin. There is no middle ground...no fence sitting involved! The invitation of love eternal has been issued to all of us...we ALL have the ability to accept it...who of us WILL?
