Grand Theft Auto 4 is quite possibly the best GTA game made to date. Despite the lack of country and free roaming space that there was in san andreas, the game is perfect. The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen published. If you have the tiniest of scrapes in a car, the paintwork is always slightly chipped. The sound effects live up to the graphics as well, for every different object you hit, comes a different sound effect.
The map is still very big, but nothing like san andreas. I personally like the idea of having New York as the main Island, and the Statue of Liberty is also a good touch. Al in all, there are 3 main islands and 2 smaller ones. The islands are unlocked by working your way through the career. The missions are also very good, most of them are a decent length and there are 96 of them. The nearer the end the better, these 96 missions include, a bank heist involving a massive police chase, and other major ones. There are also other side missions available for completion, the main ones being stealing cars and delivering them to locations.
These can be done through the GTA internet cafes. Not to mention the countless races that can be done as well. The vehicles in the new GTA IV are like the whole game; brilliant. There are loads to choose from, including aston martin, porsche, ferrari and even range rover look a likes. Another new addition in the new Grand Theft Auto is the different activities available. These include: Pool, drinking, bowling, darts and a few more. These activities are done by phoning around friends. However, the thing I love about this game is that once the story missions are done, since the maps so big, its a brilliant game for just wasting time or finishing off side missions etc. Just driving around messing about and smashing up stuff is my favourite.
Especially since there is awesome online play with multiple different game types.Such as; Deathmatch (you can guess what it is), team deathmatch, car jack city (jack as many cars as you can in the time limit and many more. Not to mention that if you get the Lost and Damned add on (around 16.00 on Live), there is a whole load more as well as new story missions, vehicles and story characters. Overall, I think this game is well worth the money, especially for the graphics and story missions. I would also highly recommend the TLAD download as its basically a new game for a brilliant price.
