Shanna Moakler has resigned as Miss California's Pageant Director simply because she no longer believes in the "pageant." As a former Ms. USA herself, she has recently gone on record to express strong feelings of disappointment over the "pageant's" recent lack of integrity.
She says she couldn't help but to think (during the recent press conference) that Carrie Prejean was being rewarded by Donald Trump for not taking responsibility over her actions. Furthermore, Moakler and her co-director Keith Lewis, have gone on record to say that they feel Prejean has single handedly "hi-jacked" the Ms. California title in order to benefit her own personal agenda and neglecting the real task at hand "that of a role model to young women."
Moakler has been very clear about the fact that, even though she is not in agreement with the opinion expressed by Ms. California Carrie Prejean regarding gay marriage (during the contest;) she has made all attempts possible to keep the lines of communications (between the two and pageant organizers) open. She (Moakler) said initially, she told Carrie her answer had hurt her feelings, but she respected her opinion in the matter as she was not previously aware how strongly she felt about the issue.
Shanna also strongly believes that Prejean will not be accepting responsibility any time soon for her actions, referring to the semi-nude photos which recently surfaced. Moakler continued to say that Donald Trump had basically handed Prejean a "platform" on which she could stand to scream "victim" which Moakler claims she clearly is not.
Prejean claims the pictures were leaked to humiliate her because of her anti-gay marriage views, calling it a "vicious and mean-spirited" attack. Even more photos hit the web before Trump's press conference Tuesday morning.
Shanna said her decision to distance herself from the situation had taken quite a bit of consideration on her part. She also added that the "Pageant" was her life, and something that she loved," but she also said, she was very saddened because stepping away meant she had lost something that she had invested a lot of time and energy in.
Moakler also mentioned that she felt her opinions about this matter had fallen on deaf ears. Could she be referring to Donald? On Tuesday,
