Speaking English: How to speak English well

These days, the English language has been used worldwide, including Malaysia. However, learning English is not enough. We have to speak English well in order to wholly master the language. If we want to transfer our thoughts to another, we have to use the appropriate grammar and pronunciation. Communicating is not as easy as writing an English essay. We need to have conversational ability and that means being able to convert our thought to a line of words, spontaneously by using appropriate words and in the meantime, being able to construct a well structured line of words.

Speaking well in English is very important because it can help us to go further, especially in our career. The one who has mastered the English language, has a brighter future as they are likely to be an asset to a company. Whenever one has to deal with a foreign company, one would likely be speaking English, as it has been a lingua franca to the world of business nowadays.

Also, speaking English well can help us in writing a great essay and enable us to explore foreign culture and technology. This is important in order to advance our technologies. Most advanced countries use English to store their technology information. So, if we want to learn the technology, we will have to know the language well first. We do not want a mistake to happen just because we have wrongly translated the information.

The necessity of speaking English well is significant in all fields, such as: Engineering, teaching, white-collar and also the common worker, as they will need it in their everyday lives. They cannot expect to meet local persons only all the time because there will be tourists or foreign workers in Malaysia. Obviously, they will be speaking English and here is where the necessity comes in. If we failed to communicate with them, they will lose their faith in us or worse, they would never think of coming here again.

The best way to learn and enhance our speaking is by practice, practice and more practice. It's because practice makes perfect. If you always practice your grammar and pronunciations, you will surely have no obstacle in mastering the English language. In this multimedia world, the internet is the best companion that you could ever have. There are so many sites you can look up. You could find thousands of websites that give advice on enhancing and speaking well in English. Also, there are thousands of videos that could teach you to pronounce the word correctly. So, there is no excuse for not speaking English well.

Ultimately, most people consider that the necessity of speaking well is restricted to white-collar office workers, teachers or governor, is totally a wrong idea. Apparently, the world nowadays necessitates an eloquence in English speaking. The reason is just the same; to avoid misunderstanding between the two parties.

It gives no harm if we learn to speak the language the way it is supposed to be. Some people take lightly of this necessity because they think it is enough to know the basics. Actually, knowing a language and mastering it is two different things. If we just know the basics, we are no different with those who had never gone to school. In school we learn English, every part of it. How to make a sentences, grammar, vocabulary and the pronunciation. So don't stop with the basics, try mastering it.

Some say that first impressions can help. The fact is, the theory can be used after all. However, many people get the wrong idea with that statement. They focus more on their appearance. What the theory is saying, is the impression from your speaking. If you speak only an average level of English, people will think you're average. If you speak in a manner that is eloquent, this will create a powerful impression. That is how it really goes. If you are only focusing on appearance, you could be no more like a wolf in sheep's clothing. So, it would be great if you really have excellent English, even if you are as shabby as you could be. Besides, it's the inner person they would be looking at, not the appearance.

There are so many tips that can be used in order to speak English well. Talking to the radio for example helps us to practice our communication. When the DJ is asking or telling something, we can try to make an appropriate response. This helps us have a conversational ability and to create a line of word spontaneously. For the first time, the words may be a bit clumsy. However, after consistent training, we will surely succeed to master the conversional ability.

The most important point is to have self-esteem. Believing in yourself is the key to success. You must have faith with what you learn. Then, you could teach others. Seriously, it is the best method that has been use throughout history. When we are teaching others, we will be aware of the words that will be used.

Try to create simple words that can easily be understood. Even if you speak it wrong, the others can tell you. This is what they call a 'win-win situation'. Both parties get an advantage and yet lose nothing. The same goes for group participation. The only difference is there will be a lot of people you could talk to and it will be more fun. You can talk about anything. Music, hobbies, life or anything as long as the mood is not boring.

Furthermore, singing songs could also do the trick. Sounds crazy? Well, no. A person who sings English songs over and over again will automatically memorize words and phrases. That means that if we sing, we will eventually tend to speak the word the way it should be spoken. It could the most interactive learning ever. Maybe, you could also put off your work stress. Just let the voice out while in the meantime you must keep your pronunciation right. It will not be so hard.

For the beginner, just pick a light and short English song such as 'Jingle Bells'. Learn the songs well and sing it them. When you get to use the word, it will be a lot easier for you to remember to speak the same word well in different sentences. If you still want to go on with the training, just pick a tougher song; the one with long lyrics and more difficult words. Soon, you can master the speaking skill.

Back to kindergarten. Reading. Bored and no time to it. Alright, how about saying it aloud? You know, reading aloud and reading a lot. At least, you could make noises to reduce your being bored. It is totally convenient to those who are learning to speak English well. It is so great that it can help you to enrich your vocabulary. As we all know, when we read, we could discover a lot of new words that could help you to improve your speaking. Isn't that marvelous?

For those who are so-into-talking-on-the-phone, why not use your hobby to some sort of lesson. You know what I mean. Try speaking in English with whom you are calling. Your mate, your friends or even your parents, ask them to cooperate with you. At least you have a medium to practice your speaking skill. And you need not to be ashamed or shy because they can't even see you. Well, at least you can't even see them if they are laughing at you.

Those with a romantic-heart who is practicing their speaking, there's good news. How about if you memorize poetry? You will learn to speak the words well. The key is to Speak! Speak! Speak! Words convey meaning, they call it forth. That's David O McKay. In this way, you are a step ahead to begin mastering the speaking skill as well as preserving the beauty of poetry. Sounds great, doesn't it? You could even try your luck to create some of it. Consider it as training to enhance your English language. It would be just nice if you got a Pulitzer for it. Just kidding. It means that you could kill two birds with one stone. Learning while having fun with it.

Apparently, speaking proper English could help us in many ways that you could never expect. Imagine you're having a holiday in foreign country. By a slight mistake, you are lost in the middle of the city. Surely, you can't speak local language to the foreigner. Here is where the skill helps you.

Also, knowing the basic is not enough. Most people take lightly the importance of mastering English. This is especially true for people who live in English speaking countries such as the United States or Great Britain. Because they are raised speaking the language, they don't feel that it is all that important. They think they can get by on the basic language classes they took in school while they were children.

Little did they know that only the eloquent English speaking could help them out because there are so many English slang they could ever know. If they are using their English slang in foreign country, it will be no different lthan a duck talking to a chicken. That is just my hyperbola. What I am trying to say is the foreigner is totally confused with what you want to tell them about.
