It can take a lot of time to write an article and get it just right before publishing it on Helium. When you work that hard, you are expecting that the work will be on the site "forever". Forever is a long time, but it doesn't always happen like that.
There have been many changes to the Helium site in the past couple of years. It has gone from a site that had a very low minimum word count to a much higher minimum. It has also gone from paying out pennies for clicks to one that pays upfront for your work. Helium deleted one of your articles and you want it get it back. Here is what you can do:
How Do I Know An Article Was Deleted
This is very easy. Go to your "My Articles" page. Click on the arrow for the "show only" button. There is an option for "deleted". Click on that word and then press "Go". Any articles that have been deleted will be shown here.
Figure Out Why
There are several reasons that an article might be deleted. You have to figure out why it was before you can fix the problem. The fact is, it may be a good thing that it was deleted. Maybe it wasn't one of your best articles to begin with so you will be glad that it has been taken off the boards. If that isn't the case, the next steps will help you through.
Low Word Count
This is one of the most common reasons that articles are deleted. You will not be informed that it happened. These are done in a mass delete of any articles that were below the word count. This is extremely easy to fix. You will simply have to add more words to the article and resubmit it for publishing. It will be as though the article is being published for the first time. In fact, it's like leap frogging it without having to go through the entire process of waiting for the leap to go through.
Helium Standards
If your article has been deleted for violation of the user agreement, you will need to remove the offending text and resubmit it for publishing. These issues could be use of profanity, plagiarism, off topic or other issues. Whatever the problem is, you need to fix it and resubmit it. If it is plagiarism, you are in danger of losing your Helium account. This is a very serious issue. Foul language needs to be removed completely. It can be replaced with "nicer" words. This is a family site after all. Off topic deletion can be fixed by finding the right title to put it under or by re-writing the article to make it on-topic.
Title Deletion
There may be an issue with the title. A possibly repeated title within the site or the title was inappropriate. You cannot resubmit under the title any longer because the title no longer exists. If you feel very strongly that you want the article posted, you can find another title to put it under. Just make sure that the article will be on topic with the new title.
There are ways to re-publish the work once the necessary corrections are made. There is no need to panic or get upset. Deletions are all keeping within the standards that Helium needs in order to make the site more lucrative to them. If the site is makes more money, the writers will make more money.
Helium is not in the same place that it was when it first started. There have been a great deal of changes since those first days. The site needs to grow in order to stay competitive with other sites like it. It also needs to grow into other fields. The higher Helium climbs, the higher the standards will be. If you aren't serious about writing, this may not be the site for you.
