The Many Reasons I Love Winter
The beauty of winter is absolutely breathtaking. The way the snow glistens or the sparkle of frost first thing in the morning. Everything just feels and looks crisp and fresh. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved winter.
While I must admit I generally love all seasons, winter continues to remain a special time for me. There are so many reasons to love this beautiful time of year.
Watching for Snow
As soon as the air turns cold, I find myself looking out the window like a child watching for the first signs of snow. The crisp clean air of winter brings back sweet memories of winters as a child playing in the snow with my mom and dad then going inside for a nice hot cup of cocoa.
Holidays
We celebrate many wonderful holidays in the winter. Christmas, Valentines Day and New Years Eve are such fun and romantic holidays. Then my family also has our own personal winter holidays. Those holidays include my son's birthday, the day my husband and I got married and my birthday.
Christmas
Every winter, the world turns into a beautiful winter wonderland. Add to that the lovely Christmas lights and everything seems to have a magical and romantic air. I love it when my husband and I get a chance to snuggle up and enjoy a nice cup of hot tea, coffee or cocoa while enjoying the beauty of the snow.
A Fresh Start
Following Christmas, we have the newness ringing in a new year. The first day of a new year gives the feeling of a fresh start. A few days later, we celebrate one of the most important days of my life the birth of my son.
Romance
In February as winter is starting to wind down we have the opportunity to celebrate Valentines Day a day set aside for love and romance. Following Valentines Day, my husband and I celebrate our anniversary and then my birthday. My husband and I use those holidays as an excuse to celebrate romance for an entire month.
Snuggling to Stay Warm
I must admit I'm not crazy about ice storms or power outages in freezing cold weather. However, my husband and I have gotten pretty good at finding the good things even in those dire circumstances.
All seasons have a unique beauty. Spring flowers are lovely, in the fall, the leaves change colors and I love the warmth and fun that summer brings. However, winter just seems to be the most beautiful and romantic time of year. Everything seems almost magical when the ground sparkles like diamonds.
